The collapse of the financial markets and the election has been impecibly timed

The collapse of the financial markets and the election has been impecibly timed. The rehertoric in the next few months will give both parties cover for the impending doom. Both Bush and Obama and Democrats and Republicans will agree to whatever deal that they offer.

Victory in Iowa!!! One delegate's story.

I thought I would brag a little about one of the alternate delegates to the RNC who won her spot the hard way, my wife.

For months now my wife has been calling delegates from our district. We designed, printed, and sent out two mailers (have you ever stuffed, sealed, addressed, and stamped 1600 envelopes?). She was actually getting some pretty good feedback and we both thought she had a chance.

Being amateurs, I guess we did not understand GOP politics in Iowa.

Oregon Delegates Update!

Just wanted everyone to know that in Oregon we elected 3 delegates and 4 alternates to the national convention (out of 27). We were to have 4 of each, but the GOP put out a competing slate and one of their "Ron Paul" delegates got through. Fortunately, we did get the other three.

Congratulations Oregonians for Ron Paul!

For Liberty!

Internet Attacked as Tool of Terror

A controversial plan to study and profile domestic terrorism was scrapped after popular push back, however, the spirit of the legislation lives on in Senator Joe Lieberman’s office. HR 1955, “The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007″ passed the House in October 2007 with almost unanimous support. The bill [...]

The Coming Recession

In the June issue of Reason, Rep. Ron Paul and six othercommentators discuss the (sorry) state of the economy. Read it here http://reason.com/news/show/126021.html

As this issue of reason goes to press, the dollar is at a record low against the euro, oil is more than $100 a barrel, consumer prices are up 4 percent from a year ago, and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is cutting interest rates so often that the guys at the office have taken to calling him Edward Scissorhands. The subprime mortgage fallout has yet to finish wreaking its havoc, Bear Stearns is holding on by the skin of its teeth, and the government’s bucket may not be big enough for all the bailouts under way. Gloomy faces dominate CNBC and the Fox Business Channel, muttering long-forgotten terms like inflation and recession.

President George W. Bush, by contrast, is relatively cheery, conceding that we are in “challenging times” but arguing that “our financial institutions are strong” and the capital markets “functioning efficiently and effectively.” “In the long run,” Bush said in a March 17 White House address, “our economy is going to be fine.” And some statistics back up the sunny view: Unemployment is still at a low 5.1 percent, and productivity remains high.

Ron Paul has a bipartisan plan for Social Security

Ron Paul is like the smart kid in the class the teacher no longer likes to call upon to give answers because he’s right most of the time. In the case of solving the Social Security problem Ron Paul has a solution that both Democrats and Republicans could love. If only they’d pay attention to the man.

Yesterday, the trustees for Social Security and Medicare released a report saying that both will be completely depleted by 2041 and 2019 respectively. The “oxy-moronic” thing about this is that these programs are deemed “trust funds” in the first place. There’s certainly no trust in a fund that is slated to eventually be wiped out.

Throughout his campaign Ron Paul has repeatedly outlined a solution to the problem that gives both the Democrats and Republicans reason to smile. Paul proposes to utilize some of the massive amounts of money saved by switching to a non-intervention foreign policy to help those people currently dependent until the programs can be phased out over a long period of time. He would let the younger people immediately opt out of the program. The approach is a sensible and gradual approach.

Democrats want nothing more than for us to be out of Iraq. This plan takes care of that. Republicans want to phase out Social Security and other welfare programs due to their burden on the economy. This plan takes care of that.

One question is are the Democrats willing to make the hard compromise of allowing the Republicans to get their way with the phase out so we can bring our troops home from Iraq? The other question is, will the Republicans agree to declare victory in Iraq and bring our troops home in return for getting their wish to phase out these welfare programs? The answer to both questions is likely an emphatic “no”, unfortunately.

What this debate ultimately illustrates is the complete disregard from both sides for doing the right thing for the American people. Instead they prefer to swing their red and blue swords at each other quenching their incessant thirst for the political upper hand. For them it is about winning, not what is right.

Ron Paul gets criticized by many for being too principled and stuck in his ways. How ironic it is then that he has shown both parties the light of compromise at the end of the Social Security tunnel. If only they would interrupt their political gamesmanship and listen to the man.

The Ron Paul Campaign: The Glass is Half Full, by Rand Paul

by Rand Paul MD | March 17, 2008

Analysis of Ron Paul's success or failure seems to miss the mark. Many critics point to this or that ad or this or that tactic that prevented victory. I think such analysis misses the forest for the trees.

I believe that no candidate can win the presidency without day-in and day-out, constant television coverage. In other words, unless the media grants you first tier coverage, the electorate will not vote for you in significant numbers. A large percentage of voters will not vote for a candidate they don't believe can win and that belief in "winnability" is still entirely controlled by the MSM.
That said, I think we should revel in the extraordinary successes of the campaign.

Ron Paul began with nearly zero name recognition and was relegated from the beginning by all MSM media to the second tier. I believe pundits should recognize the great strides in achieving between 5 and 10% of the vote in almost every state and receiving 11% in a Rasmussen poll running as a third party candidate. Not to mention over 20% in several caucus states, including second place in Nevada, Montana, and Louisiana.

Ron Paul's name recognition nationally now likely exceeds 50% of the electorate.

Do You Hear the People Sing? - Ron Paul Edition

The prospect of American citizens turning away from the dollar towards alternate currencies will provide the necessary impetus to the US government to regain control of the dollar and halt its downward spiral. Restoring soundness to the dollar will remove the government's ability and incentive to inflate the currency, and keep us from launching unconstitutional wars that burden our economy to excess. With a sound currency, everyone is better off, not just those who control the monetary system. -Ron Paul

Do You Hear the People Sing? They're singing the praises of Congressman Ron Paul, the only presidential candidate who is a true advocate of liberty and the Constitution. His campaign has sparked a real Revolution all across America and it's not over yet by a long shot.

Romney Gains In Florida

http://www.openleft.com/showDiary.

"Now that Obama seems to have made February 5th very, very interesting for Democrats, it would be only fair for Romney to do the same for Republicans. Fortunately, he seems to be obliging, as three Florida polls released today all show Romney gaining. Zogby now shows a 30%-30% tie, while yesterday McCain lead 31%-28%. Insider Advantage shows Romney ahead 26%-24%, whereas yesterday it was a 23% to 23% tie. Rasmussen shows Romney extending his lead to 33%--27%, whereas three days earlier Romney only led 27%-23%. In fact, the last four polls conducting Florida tracking show the state moving from McCain 25.5%--23.5% Romney, to Romney 29.3%--27.8% McCain."

Paul Chances Cut In Half

"With the Florida Primary vote scheduled for Tuesday January 29th, 2008 plenty of Point-Spreads.com readers are interested in Ron Paul Presidential Betting Odds after reading my article published yesterday titled Mike Huckabee on Easter Egg Hunt, Ron Paul poised to surge in FL. Two readers were not pleased about the betting odds being so high and now on the eve of the Florida Primary, betting odds on Ron Paul winning the Republican Nomination have been slashed from 25 to 1 down to 10 to 1 odds at BodogLife.com.

Republican Presidential hopefuls such as John McCain, Mike Huckabee and Rudy Guiliani do not have the dough to survive that far beyond Florida giving Texas Congressman Ron Paul a nice advantage to outlast the other lower tiered candidates and gobble up some of their support once they leave the race. All of the Republican Presidential Candidates are in full campaign mode down in Florida trying to win the delegate rich state.

Arizona Senator John McCain needs a win in Florida in order to give his campaign a financial boost. A win would give McCain the ability to raise more money heading into Super Tuesday which happens to have several states voting in his Southwest Stronghold. BodogLife.com has John McCain at even money to win the Florida Primary with 1 to 1 odds.

McCain has sealed some key endorsements in Florida, including one from popular Governor Charlie Crist and another one from Florida Republican Senator Mel Martinez. Both were blows to Rudy Guiliani’s Presidential Campaign. Guiliani has been wooing Governor Crist for months so Chalie’s endorsement of McCain was particularly devastating. Unfortunately, it looks like the strategy to launch his campaign in Florida is backfiring on the former New York City Mayor. Guiliani is 11 to 10 odds to win the Florida Primary.

A Point-Spreads.com reader by the name Wavalene had this to say about Ron Paul Presidential Betting Odds:

Huckabee complains about AIR TIME after debate

Huckle said he only recieved 12 minutes of air time at last nights debate and Romney received 21 minutes. Well I know Paul was allowed 6 interupted minutes. That leaves another 15-20 minutes for McCain.

Unfair? For who? Same old tricks and petty squablles. The only person with a solution for the economy was virtual silenced. Now you have Hucky crying about mistreatment. Hey im being hard because look at Paul, Gravel, Kucinich. Ok Gravel didnt have much support but neither did Thompson.

I included the videos so you can judge whos being ignored.

well thats what you get apparently the supporters for Ghoulie, McPain, Dont make videos for them.
